About The buyGREEN.net Campaign

The buyGREEN.net campaign is a public education campaign of Environmental Resources Trust (ERT). The campaign is designed to educate consumers about green power and to encourage them to purchase green power. ERT is launching this Radio-Internet campaign as a pilot in five states this summer 2004, with an expansion planned for 2005.

At the center of the campaign is a Radio Public Service Announcement -- "Imagine the Wind" - that communicates the power and potential of renewable energy. The Radio PSA is airing in the following 5 states/regions: Maryland, District of Columbia, Illinois, Michigan and North Carolina.

ERT is a nonprofit environmental organization that works to increase renewable energy use and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. ERT's EcoPowerŪ renewable energy program increases the demand and supply of renewable energy from the wind, sun, water and other unlimited, clean sources.

The goal of the BuyGreen.net campaign is to increase consumer demand for green power. The greater the demand for green power, the more renewable energy will be developed and the more fossil fuel generation and its harmful environmental impacts will be displaced.
  • Green Power is electricity generated from natural sources like wind, solar, small-scale hydro,     tidal, geothermal, biomass, and biogas
  • Green power is fossil and nuclear fuel-free
  • Green power is reliable and affordable
  • A grant from the Temper of the Times Foundation supported ERT to launch this pilot campaign. The Temper of the Times Foundatoin funds environmental communications projects. ERT is working to expand this pilot to a national BuyGreen.net ccampaign next year. We are seeking partners for this national expansion.
